Day-wise Itinerary
Arrive at Madurai Airport/Railway Station and transfer to your hotel. After freshening up, visit the Meenakshi Amman Temple, a masterpiece of Dravidian architecture. In the evening, explore the Thirumalai Nayak Palace and witness the "Sound & Light Show" that narrates the history of the Nayak dynasty.
After breakfast, drive toward Rameswaram ($175$ km / $4$ hours). The highlight of this drive is crossing the iconic Pamban Bridge, India's first sea bridge. Upon arrival, check into your hotel. Spend your evening at the Agni Theertham beach, where the waters are considered holy and calm.
Early morning visit to the Ramanathaswamy Temple. You may opt for the traditional 22 Kund Snanam (holy bath) within the temple. Later, drive to Dhanushkodi, the "Ghost Town" at the edge of the island where the Bay of Bengal meets the Indian Ocean. On your way back, visit the APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial, a tribute to India's People's President.
Drive southward to Kanyakumari ($310$ km / $6$ hours). Upon arrival, check in and head to the shore to witness a spectacular Sunset over the Triveni Sangamβthe confluence of the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and the Indian Ocean.
Take a morning ferry to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, located on a mid-sea rock where Swami Vivekananda meditated. Right next to it stands the massive Thiruvalluvar Statue. Later, visit the Bhagavathy Amman Temple, the Gandhi Mandapam, and the Suchindram Temple (located 13 km away).
Wake up early to catch the famous Kanyakumari Sunrise from the beach. After a final South Indian breakfast, you will be transferred to Trivandrum (TRV) or Madurai (IXM) Airport/Railway Station for your journey home.
