Day-wise Itinerary
Arrive at Guwahati Airport (GAU) or Railway Station. Meet your private driver and begin the climb toward Shillong ($100$ km). En route, stop at the sprawling Umiam Lake (Barapani), a massive man-made reservoir surrounded by sylvan hills. Enjoy an optional boat ride or simply take in the views. Upon reaching Shillong, check into your hotel and spend the evening exploring the local lifestyle at Police Bazar.
After breakfast, drive to Cherrapunji (Sohra). This day is filled with natural wonders: visit the three-stepped Elephant Falls, the deep Mawsmai Caves, and the majestic Nohkalikai Falls. Experience the sheer drop of the Seven Sisters Falls and the Eco Park. Unlike shorter tours, you will stay overnight in Cherrapunji, allowing you to enjoy the serene mountain evening.
Drive to Mawlynnong, the cleanest village in Asia. Walk through the paved stone paths and see the unique "Living Root Bridge" at Riwai. Climb the Sky Walk for a view of the Bangladesh border. In the afternoon, head to Dawki to see the emerald Umngot River. The water here is so clear that boats appear to be floating in the air. Return to Shillong by late evening.
Explore the Laitlum Canyons, a breathtaking spot featuring deep gorges and winding stairways carved into the hills (famous from the movie Rock On 2). Return to Shillong to visit the Don Bosco Museum (one of the best for indigenous cultures) and the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians. Use the evening for last-minute shopping for local honey, fruit wines, and bamboo crafts.
After your final breakfast in the hills, visit the Shillong Peak for a bird's-eye view of the city. Begin your descent back to Guwahati ($100$ km / $3$ hours). You will be dropped off at the Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey, carrying the spirit of the hills with you.
