Tour Highlights
Day-wise Itinerary
Arrive at Guwahati (GAU) Airport or Railway Station. Meet your private driver and head straight to Kaziranga National Park ($190$ km / $4.5$ hours). Check into your jungle resort and spend the evening at the Kaziranga Orchid Park to watch traditional Bihu and ethnic dance performances.
Start early with a silent Elephant Safari to see rhinos at arm's length. After breakfast, head out for your first Jeep Safari in the Western Range. In the afternoon, explore a different zone with a second Jeep Safari (Central/Kohora range), known for its high density of tigers and swamp deer.
Drive to Sibsagar, the former capital of the Ahom Kings. Visit the architectural wonders: Rang Ghar (Asia’s oldest amphitheater), the seven-storied Talatal Ghar (with its secret tunnels), and the massive Shiva Dol temple on the banks of the Sivasagar Tank. Overnight stay in Sibsagar or nearby Jorhat.
Travel to Nimati Ghat and board the ferry with your vehicle to cross the Brahmaputra to Majuli, the world's largest river island. Visit the Auniati Satra (monastery) and Kamalabari Satra. In the evening, settle into your traditional bamboo cottage and enjoy the quiet island life.
Spend a full day exploring the island’s soul. Visit Samaguri Satra to see the world-famous traditional mask-making. Explore the Mising tribal villages by bicycle or on foot to see their stilted houses and exquisite handlooms. Sunset at the Luit riverbank is a must-see.
Take the morning ferry back to the mainland and begin the drive back to Guwahati ($320$ km). Upon arrival, check into your hotel. If time permits, enjoy a Sunset River Cruise on the Brahmaputra to celebrate your final night in Assam.
Visit the sacred Kamakhya Temple atop Nilachal Hill for a spiritual conclusion to your trip. After some last-minute shopping at Fancy Bazar for Muga silk and local tea, you will be dropped off at the Airport or Railway Station.
